KICK
Okay, let's get one factor straight: Salman Khan's movies square measure critic-proof. The naysayers or those baying for his blood might frown upon the slipups and blemishes in his movies, signifies open plot holes, accuse him of choosing remakes instead of original ideas, slam him for victimization his super-stardom for masala entertainers… however you can't overlook the actual fact that once Salman saunters on screen, he sets it ablaze along with his charm and magnetism.
The star-performer carries the load of the complete film well on his broad shoulders. Everything he will on screen is emulated by his fans pronto: styling, hair style, killer dialogue, dance steps et al. named as 'Bhai' by those near him, he's currently the 'Bhai' or the enduring on-screen characters he has delineated over the years - Prem, Radhe, Chulbul Pandey, beautiful Singh, Tiger - for millions of fans across the world.
Salman, the star machine, is that the multicolour Piper of Hindi cinema. He *doesn't* promise path-breaking or art house cinema. the main target is on those 3 supernatural words: recreation, recreation and entertainment. and that is what matters to a good majority of movie-going audience.
Sure, the attractive star's newest outing KICK could be a remake of the super-successful Telugu film KICK [2009; directed by Surender Reddy and leading Ravi Teja, Ileana D'Cruz and Shaam]. however there is a world of a distinction between KICK, directed by Sajid Nadiadwala, and Salman's previous couple of entertainers. This one's additional conventionalized, has wealthiness and gloss reeking in each frame and is incredibly international in terms of execution.
However, the prime question remains the same: Is KICK Blockbuster material? affirmative, of course! The premise of KICK, first! On a train journey in capital of Poland, a fairly shrink, Shaina [Jacqueline Fernandez], meets Himanshu [Randeep Hooda], a lawman from Bharat, for AN organized match. They share their pasts with one another.
Shaina shares the story of her ex-boyfriend Devi Lal Singh [Salman Khan], a man WHO lived just for 'Kick'. She talks concerning his madness and their windstorm romance, till in the future he breaks up along with her for a brand new kick and walks away, ne'er to come back. Himanshu tells her concerning his wonderful escapades and that he has finally met his match - AN intelligent felon. What they do not grasp is that their stories have one factor in common - Devil. He returns back to their lives below a brand new semblance of getting lost his memory. Behind it all could be a deeper mystery and an uncompromising mission…KICK marks Sajid Nadiadwala's rendezvous with direction and tho' the debutant director might have looked southward to decide on the story, once it involves death penalty the written language, the inspiration is clearly the West: the epic Hollywood fares. Having created over a dozen movies until date, Sajid has voluminous expertise and experience and is aware of exactly the way to use the familiar tropes to his advantage.
Sajid conjures up a world that mixes visual brilliance with many knockout episodes. Like Salman, Sajid too contains a one-point agenda: recreation. No wonder, Sajid and his team of writers ensure that they have to supply additional to the sharp viewer than what has been witnessed to this point, since the promos have raised the bar and increased their expectations. That explains why the cat and mouse game [played between Randeep and Salman] does not follow the tried and tested rules, while the conflict between the benefactor and therefore the antagonist [Salman and Nawazuddin Siddiqui] steers clear of the traditional configuration. As a matter of reality, the frantic twists and turns within the storyline square measure proof that Sajid and his writing team square measure keen to supply the audience that additional dose of recreation which might build KICK a kickass mortal.
KICK has the magnificence [in terms of production values] that was lacking in Salman's previous movies. this can be a giant price tag show and Sajid, WHO has created epic extravaganzas within the past, makes certain each frame seems lambent, tasteful and attention-grabbing. Be it the spectacular locales of capital of Poland or the fashionable sets, the DoP [Ayananka Bose] acts as AN aide and encapsulates the plush, up market look ably. The spectator additionally gets a world feel throughout the high-octane stunts, action and chases, that garnish the goings-on magnificently. The train stunt is already the utter city. Also, the chase in capital of Poland, with Salman driving a bus, causes you to gasp in disbelief.
I'd wish to build a special mention of Rajat Aroraa's dialogue. The writer provides the film many clapworthy lines, that square measure absolute to become legendary. the simplest line is, of course, 'Mere baare mein itna mat sochna, dil mein aata hoon, samajh mein nahin', that comes at an important purpose within the story. The lines delivered by Nawazuddin square measure super too and therefore the sequence with Salman towards the climax are greeted with whistles and claps. Take a bow, Rajat!
Any hiccups? The first half could've been tighter.. a couple of sequences are stretched from time to time [Salman and Mithun within the bar]. The songs due higher things. The romantic track, within the second hour specifically, could've been additional persuasive. The sound recording remains faithful the genre of the film and therefore the quality of 'Jumme Ki Raat' and 'Yaar na Miley', that seems double within the film, enhances the impact.
To state that Salman is that the soul of KICK would not be AN exaggeration. he is committed, charming and competent, such a lot so it's tough to require your eyes off him. Post DABANGG, those that felt that the actor's movies lacked a cohesive script to match his superstardom, square measure absolute to feel satiated with KICK, since the film has it all and will utmost justice to Salman's aura. In fact, the film provides him the platform to exhibit his vary as AN actor/star and his real-life role of a decent Samaritan/humanitarian any. Rest assured, the fans and therefore the fanatics - even those that are not - are certain a treat!
Randeep Hooda is supremely economical, delivering a performance that stays with you. And this can be a huge compliment, since the film could be a Salman show from commencement to conclusion. Nawazuddin Siddiqui could be a powerhouse of talent and KICK provides him the chance to cross over to the commercial league. Nawazuddin is just outstanding, essaying his dispense with relish [don't miss his typical laugh, it'll undoubtedly catch on massive time]. In fact, it will not be inaccurate to state that along with Salman, Nawazuddin can walk off with plaudits once KICK.
Jacqueline Fernandez will okay, though her diction has to be worked upon. She appearance nice and her dance in 'Jumme Ki Raat' is certain to stun you. Mithun Chakraborty is in prime kind once more. The sequence with Salman towards the closing moments stick with you.
The supporting forged - Saurabh Shukla [good], Sanjay Mishra [awesome], Vipin Sharma [super], Archana Puransingh [alright], Kavin Dave [first-rate], Sumona Chakravarti [perfect] - every of them contribute well to the proceedings.
On the entire, KICK could be a subunit vasool, seeti-maar mortal. prepare for a tidal wave referred to as KICK at the window. it's absolute to rewrite box-office records. Salman fans, rejoice. KICK could be a sure-shot B-L-O-C-K-B-U-S-T-E-R. To quote a dialogue from the film: 'Woh apni Eidi lene zaroor aayega'.
Hate Story 2
A worn-out plot with flatly executed scenes of punishment and a lacklustre leading girl; Hate Story 2 is too trivial to be erotic or arousing.
It's easy to determine the interest of public by the frequency of lighted phone screens throughout a showing or once the atmosphere within what ought to be attentive show hall resembles a loud coffee shop wherever folks are available in for chitchat and cappuccino with a random channel barking in the background. Hate Story 2, which implies to hold on the titillating heroic tale ambience of its 2012 forerunner, was the recipient of such cheesed off indifference within the theatre I watched it this morning.
Under the other circumstances, i might have protested however this 2nd one, directed by Vishal Pandya, in Hate series is as spineless, brainless, insensitive and sexless as the 1st.
Like Subhash Ghai's boneheaded Kaanchi, Hate Story is a done-to-death vendetta drivel regarding a horrid politician with a creepy chess fixation (Sushant Singh), a miserable mistress with a disturbing dagger fetish (Surveen Chawla) and a toy boy fancying her from photography category (Jay Bhanushali).
I have watched YouTube tutorials that supply a lot of careful camera tips and technique than what is taught during this lame photography lecture. Still what I witness directly when is this so mind-bogglingly daft; I resolve to not expect any shred of intelligence within the reels to follow.
The one wherever Bhanushali woos Chawla, a sampler:
"My girlfriend broke up with me. Since i wrote and sent LOL once she messaged regarding her pet dog's death. LOL means that Lots of Love na?"
"Silly, LOL means that laugh out loud. you are simply kidding, na?"
"But, hey, I made you LOL."
Lour out loud is a lot of am fond of it.
But Chawla is not a lady of discerning taste.
She is endlessly affected by Bhanushali's cloddish antics and Hate Story 2 hurriedly goes to
document what it believes to be the 'erotic' part of the narrative.
You know the keywords -- swimming bath, bikini, lip-lock, love associate degreed remixed version of an previous sensual melody (Dayavan's Aaj Phir Tumpe during this case).
Only the couple in question perform the wet bits with such a pained urgency, the desperation to get over and done with the gimmick before long passes on to the spectator as well.
Doesn't take a lot of of an I.Q. to work out what happens once a possessive, politically connected bully learns of his girl's liaison with another.
But Hate Story 2's laziness is during a league of its own, even a traffic congestion demonstrates a lot of character and unpredictability.
Forget logic, novelty or dynamism, Pandya's film does not even possess the sentimentality to supply a singular moment of sympathy for its purportedly battered heroine.
Chawla's transformation from an odd, unarticulate victim to a gun totting avenging angel dodging cops, goons and press is idiotic.
On and off epileptic fits aside, her utterly manicured fingers, salon-treated hair and distracting footwear clearly do not convey the anguish or trauma of somebody who's spent lots of your time buried alive during a coffin.
Speaking of that, a pal of mine said the trailer of Hate Story 2 reminded him of I Spit On Your Grave 2.
Fleeting resemblances aside, I will now safely say HS II is like Teletubbies compared there to utterly skanky torture erotica. (But my ingrained hate for those annoying vibrant thingums beloved to toddlers is another story.)
This one may be low on gratuitous gore however it's no less torturesome. I did not look after Surveen Chawla's hysterical shrieks and obvious face. In a dramatic scene, she virtually yodels out Akshay-ay-ay-ayayay (Bhanushali's character) with the fervency of Tarzan. I did not look after Jay Bhanushali's feeble contribution as eye-candy either. And there's Sushant Singh, sporting a fierce mustache, doing the standard grunting/grimacing routine while frequently cracking a bunch of inferior 'Baba kehte the' couplets that neither amuse nor amaze.
A stale plot with unconditionally dead scenes of retribution and a lacklustre leading lady; Hate Story 2 is too trivial to be titillating or thrilling.
The only memory I walked out with is that this supremely funny scene wherever half-a-dozen cops collect on the spot of murder to arrest the killer and walk off yield the blood-stained dead body still tied to a seat with Arijit Singh harping something regarding dil and wafaa.
Now that ?
That made me LMAO
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)
With Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Hollywood gave U.S. a rare blockbuster - one that was racy nonetheless intelligent, a visible amusement that was additionally nuanced. which ending - it had been a cliffhanger if we've got ever seen one. The apes, headed by the redoubtable Caesar, were going towards freedom and humans were heading for devastation due to the simian contagious disease that came out of a research lab.
A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. |
Dawn of the world of the Apes picks up wherever the primary half left. it's been ten years and humans square measure believed to be extinct. Apes square measure within the early stages of civilisation, and because the film can show - nearer to humans than anyone believed.
They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war. |
In the middle of this land humans who urgently have to be compelled to faucet AN energy supply bang within the middle of the ape settlement. whereas Caesar (Andy Serkis) needs peace, his deputy Koba (Toby Kebbell) - WHO was tortured in an exceedingly research lab before he at liberty needs revenge.
Sentiments square measure divided within the human camp too. army officer (Gary Oldman) believes humans have an opportunity only the last ape is killed. His cry remains, "They're animals".
Who will emerge as Earth's dominant species? |
Peacenik Malcolm (Jason Clarke), his girlfriend Ellie (Keri Russell) and son Alexander (Kodi Smit-McPhee) square measure touched by Caesar's humanity and have complete religion in him. However, once interests clash and concern takes over, a war is inevitable. So, WHO can emerge because the planet's dominant species?
But, the additional necessary question is: wherever do your loyalties lie as a viewer? each humans and apes square measure caught in their own compulsions in an exceedingly dystopian world, allegories for real-life problems, and that we hope they're going to take a stab gone whereas realising it is not doable within the long. The film shows what forms the genesis of dictatorships and also the concern of the 'other'.
The film stars Andy Serkis, Toby Kebbell, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke and Keri Russell.
|
Purely in terms of well-defined characters within the film, we'll simply persist with the apes. similar to the primary time, the ape characters square measure most additional well-sketched and stratified . The humans - once more - feel one-dimensional. they're either smart or unhealthy with the stripped of backstories.
When the film isn't raising serious queries, it's a visible spectacle. a number of the war scenes and a searching scene within the starting square measure awful. The moments once we initial see the ape colony are outstanding. Apes swing off the trees, get the walls and square measure most likely the rationale why this film offers U.S. a bang for our buck in term of 3D effects.
The film has been directed by Matt Reeves |
That brings U.S. to the piece Delaware resistance of the film - Andy Serkis. The film uses motion capture technology that accurately interprets performance into animation. Full marks to director Matt Reeves for capturing the human emotions and expressions of his actors while they grunt and walk like simians.
And nobody will it higher than the gifted Andy Serkis. because the patriarch WHO bit by bit involves realise that his beloved race shares constant follies as humans or his anger once his loyalty to his race is questioned - Serkis brings that rare quality to the character. With those emotional eyes, he depicts Caesar's pathos, rage, sympathy and concern. The film begins and ends together with his face's close-up and that we believe Reeves couldn't have done higher.
A perfect summer watch which can additionally provide you with one thing to consider - Watch it.
Ek Villain
Ek Villain
Star Cast: Sidharth Malhotra, Shraddha Kapoor, Riteish Deshmukh, Remo Fernandes
Director: Mohit Suri
There's one in every love story, says the motto of Ek Villan, and the film strains every sinew to justify it. The three main characters - Guru unloved orphans become a gunslinger bully girl Aisha pretty busy checking items from a to-do list, and Rakesh stinging-low-daily-humiliation-hard working - bounce off each other, resulting in a film sprayed on the corny romance and shocking violence.
Mohit Suri has a gift for vivid characterization, though some things are a bit stressed too. He also does a good job with the fabric of high octane moments around their characters. So I do not really know a twig hokeyness plot to begin with as guru (Malhotra) and severity dissolved in softness with the parrot is sprightly Aisha (Kapoor) and Rakesh (Deshmukh) becomes increasingly aware of their oppressed state overnight. Then begins a series of murders, and a race to the bloody end.
But soon start noticing the lanosidad of history, which has more than a passing resemblance to a Korean cult slasher film, while confusingly weaves back and forth in time, from lovers singing of gruesome murders. The tone becomes inconsistent. Balancing Ek Villain between drama and melodrama is its weakness: the parts I bought kept me engrossed, and then I was back in those in which he could not suspend disbelief. A cop says: “Usne usi jagaah panaah li hai jahaan usne gunaah kiya“ in a mushaira, police can turn even a poetic, but alliterating, in the heat of the moment, and panaah Gunaah?
This was fine for the 80's Bollywood, when writers lavished dialog couplets about cops and robbers and lovers, his punches when heroes villains slowed to recite his pun-laden lines for our enjoyment. But now the device smells artifice. And get the performances in this film apart from the cables, there is a libertine (KRK) shooting tips on how to "keep the wives in control." He's enough to make you want to keep away from all the actual women.
Shraddha Kapoor is slowly improving, and has a couple of points higher when the audience laughs with her. Sidharth Malhotra is watchable even if you have difficulty doing this threat - it looks so pretty and healthy all the time, even when he is creaking bones. Riteish Deshmukh is sweeping the stakes, with dead eyes and talk at the same time. Deshmukh has played second and third wheel fourth-rate comedies, and always managed to remain visible. Here, he made me sit and watch.
Suri is a born storyteller, and can keep things moving. All you need is a strong, all-the-way credible, original plot.
Transformers: Age Of Extinction
Director:Michael Bay
Cast: Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Nicola Peltz, JackReynor, Bingbing Li, John Goodman, Ken Watanabe, John DiMaggio, Reno Wilson, Peter Cullen
Genre: Action
Duration: 2 hours 46 minutes
Story: The Autobots are in hiding as they're being hunted down by the CIA with the help of a ruthless bounty hunter Transformer.
When a broke inventor accidentally 'finds' Optimus Prime, the CIA and the Decepticons make a beeline for them.
Review: Transformers takes a little time to really build up, with the necessary character-establishing scenes of the humans.
Cade Yeager (Wahlberg) lives in the Texas countryside with his daughter Tessa (Peltz). Struggling to pay the bills, he invests every cent into buying and re-purposing what Tessa calls 'junk'.
She is skeptical that the eager Yeager will one day make a game-changing invention. Yet later, when the pace kicks in, Bay ensures that you are blindsided by a juggernaut of metal.
CIA agent Harold Attinger (Grammer) finds out that Yeager knows where Optimus Prime (Cullen) is.
Attinger gets a Decepticon called Lockdown, whom he has formed a tenuous alliance with, to track down the Autobot leader as well as other Autobots because they are no longer welcome on Earth.
The technology that makes the Transformers is then recycled and reverse-engineered by tech tycoon Joshua Joyce's (Tucci) company KSI, to create a new breed of Transformers.
But does Joshua really understand the alien technology well enough to create and more importantly, control?
Prime regroups with Bumblebee, Hound (Goodman), Drift (Watanabe), Crosshairs (DiMaggio) and Brains (Wilson) to fight the Decepticons. Yeager, Tessa and her boyfriend Shane (Reynor) help out.
But while the effects are totally off the hook, the dialogues sound like a random collection of one-liners. Indeed, the machines display a wider range of emotions.
But then again, you don't watch a Michael Bay film for intense dialogues.
The idea is, why shoot a person just once when you can take a cannon instead and literally shred not only the person, but the car next to him, the building behind him and a few bystanders, with a few hundred bullets and shells for good measure.
Be it fiery photogenic explosions, smashing buildings, mega monster battles and more, there is no doubt that action rules this film.
CityLights
Citylights is a story we have seen many times before. However, the execution of the film by the National Award-winning director Hansal Mehta makes the film intensely gripping and thought-provoking.
The film tells the story of Deepak (Rajkummar Rao) and Rakhi (Patralekha) who migrate from a Rajasthan village to the city of dreams, Mumbai, for job, money and a better life. Once they reach there, they realise the city is not what it promised to be. While she has to take to dancing in city's seedy dance bars, he gets lost in the maze of black money.

Hansal Mehta's direction adds an extra dimension to this film. Rajkummar and Patralekha slip effortlessly into theirrespective roles. Manav Kaul, who plays Rajkummar's friend and co-worker, also delivers an exceptional performance. Be it cracking a lame joke or scaring Rajkummar or helping him out, Kaul does it all with ease.
The interplay of emotions and how the couple copes with city's hardships are the high points of the film.
Citylights is painfully honest, like my film Zakhm: Mahesh Bhatt
In one of the sequences, frustrated that his wife works in a dance bar, Rajkummar reaches home drunk and demands that Patralekha performs for him just as she does for the clients. Her anger bursts through and she beats her husband till he comes and takes refuge in her lap.
In one of the initial scenes, the wife is made to strip in order to get the job in the dance bar. Later in the film, Rajkummar and Manav are made to take off their clothes too. Equality, did we hear?
However, the film has a few howlers as well. For instance, Deepak is a villager and doesn't know English but is shown reading an English newspaper. Later, Kaul gifts Rao a house bigger than the one he himself owns.

The film is not meant for audience which wants usual Bollywood fare. Its climax, for example, may disappoint many but is likely to gain its own niche audience.
Goliyon Ki Raasleela - Ram-Leela
With every film, Sanjay Leela Bhansali [SLB] takes the audience expectations to a higher elevation. The expectations from GOLIYON KI RAASLEELA RAM-LEELA are no less. The fizzy colors, the attention-grabbing visuals, the intense drama ingeniously intertwined in the screenplay, the alluring soundtrack and the electrifying chemistry between the lead pair has caught the attention of one and all. With GOLIYON KI RAASLEELA RAM-LEELA, one of the best storytellers of our times, is all set to surpass himself...and also prove the cynics wrong, who may have felt that he has lost his way while trying to court triumph.
You do know what to expect from an SLB film, since the specially talented storyteller discharges the right signals via the trailors of his films. It's no different with GOLIYON KI RAASLEELA RAM-LEELA: SLB has stirred the audience imagination by attempting a love story amidst guns and roses. Sure, SLB is inspired by William Shakespeare's love saga 'Romeo and Juliet', but SLB makes sure he narrates the passionate love story of star-crossed lovers from enemy families in his trademark individualistic style.
Set in Gujarat, GOLIYON KI RAASLEELA RAM-LEELA is SLB's most 'commercial' film as a director. Also, his best work so far. Undoubtedly! It's the kind of film that you carry back with you. The hi-octane drama, the blazing guns, the passionate romance, the haunting melodies, the heart-melting emotions... SLB is an exceptional artist with a remarkable vision and GOLIYON KI RAASLEELA RAM-LEELA only bolsters the actuality.
GOLIYON KI RAASLEELA RAM-LEELA describes the story of Ram [Ranveer Singh] and Leela [Deepika Padukone]. The hostility and hate between their families is an open secret, but as luck would have it, Ram and Leela fall in love. When truth dawns upon the respective families, a storm ensues, their worlds collide and a bloody battle occurs...Can Ram and Leela carve their destinies amidst disgust and slaughter?
Agree, we have witnessed Shakespeare's adaptation of 'Romeo and Juliet' many times in the past, but SLB makes sure the execution of the written material - also the way the screenplay [Siddharth-Garima and SLB] advances - is way different from similar storylines lead by dream merchants here. The unconventionality he brings to every sequence, the colors he infuses in his frames, the aggressive lingo his characters mouth, the passion and sensuality he brings about in his characters, GOLIYON KI RAASLEELA RAM-LEELA not only has a spellbinding effect, but it ships you to an unfamiliar world absolutely. You may have an inkling of the plot, but you definitely don't know how SLB will give an altogether innovative twirl to the premise.
Celebrated for being a perfectionist for exactness and thoroughness, SLB makes sure his vision of narrating a story belonging to two warring families is never thinned by unwanted sub-plots or characters. One can gauge the premise at the very outset, but SLB never loses the focal point or deviates from it till the culmination. What unfurls is certainly going to catch a lot of people unaware, for sure.
Hiccups? Yes, the length could've been managed, towards the latter reels specifically. However, it's a minor hiccup when one looks at the kind of effort that has gone into making every frame come alive.
One of the highpoints of GOLIYON KI RAASLEELA RAM-LEELA is, without doubt, its musical score [SLB, again]. Known for delivering musical gems in the past, the soundtrack of GOLIYON KI RAASLEELA RAM-LEELA is outstanding, to put it in one word. Each of the songs suits the setting of the film, besides being seeped in melody. The fact that the tunes are on the loop says it all. 'Lahu Munh Lag Gaya', 'Nagada Sang Dhol Baaje', 'Ishqyaun Dhishqyaun', 'Tattad Tattad', 'Ang Laga De' and 'Ram Chahe Leela' are sure-fire hits already. Visually too, each of those songs is distinctively resplendent, with the choreography catching your eye as well. The background score [Monty Sharma] is top class.
The DoP [Ravi Varman] captures SLB's vision exquisitely and every frame has the unmistakable stamp of flawlessness. The production design [Wasiq Khan] is striking. Action [Sham Kaushal] is absolutely in blended with the demands of the script.
Who would have ever imagined Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone to set the screen on fire, when GOLIYON KI RAASLEELA RAM-LEELA was announced? But the chemistry between the two is defining in every scene, with the actors complimenting each other fantastically. Ranveer, seen in a completely new avatar, had impressed in his earlier endeavors, but he outshines himself in this one. He has surfaced as a much better actor than he ever was, letting himself free of his restrictions and experimenting with a role that's actually intricate. He's simply flawless.
This is Deepika's year, for sure. Post RACE-2, YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI and CHENNAI EXPRESS, Deepika pulls yet another ace this time. Looking gorgeous as ever and cast in the most challenging role of her career thus far, she wins you over with an act that's flawless. Actually, the confidence she scatters while portraying this part makes you wonder whether SLB and his writers Siddharth-Garima had penned this character keeping Deepika in mind. The audience is sure to go into raptures while watching Deepika in GOLIYON KI RAASLEELA RAM-LEELA.
Every actor in the supporting cast is simply wonderful. Supriya Pathak [outstanding], Homi Wadia [super], Gulshan Devaiah [brilliant], Richa Chadda [fantastic], Abhimanyu Singh [first-rate], Sharad Kelkar [competent], Barkha Bisht [very good] and Raza Murad [competent], each actor gives his/her best to the enterprise. Priyanka Chopra sizzles in the item number.
On the whole, GOLIYON KI RAASLEELA RAM-LEELA ought to be watched for multiple reasons: the electrifying chemistry between its lead actors, the strong dramatic content, the scintillating musical score, the violent streak in the narrative and of course, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's execution of the material. This is Sanjay Leela Bhansali's most accomplished work to date. It's a work of outstanding artistry. No two opinions about it. A masterpiece by the master craftsman Sanjay Leela Bhansali!

Thor 2 - The Dark World
But before she knows what’s happening, Portman is sucked into a portal and her blood stream is infected with the aether. Guess ‘burying stuff’ isn’t the security measure everyone seems to think it is. And now, Malekith, the leader of the dark elves of Svartalfheim, is awake after his prolonged hibernation and looking for his aether. Enter Thor to smash his hammer, save his woman and defeat the cloud of smoke. Played by Chris Hemsworth, Thor is a strapping young man with a gravelly voice, stringy blonde hair, blue eyes and angst. About fifteen minutes into the movie, Thor is shirtless (as superheroes are wont to be from time to time) and I fleetingly understood why a friend had told me that ‘Thor 2 is the girl’s superhero movie’. Hemsworth is a good looking guy, and though I find the term ‘girl’s superhero movie’ slightly sexist, if there were to be a girl’s superhero movie, a shirtless Hemsworth would be in it. But the most interesting character, of course, remains Loki, who really deserves his own movie. Played by Tom Hiddleston, Loki is a wiry bundle of evil and angst.
With his slicked-back hair and zingers (Loki has the only worthwhile one-liners in the movie), Loki is too much fun to keep locked away as a prisoner. Thor enlists him into helping defeat Malekith, and the brothers’ trust issues are on full display for the rest of the movie. Thor isn’t the best movie in the franchise, but it isn’t the worst either. It lacks the light touch of the first Iron Man, but Hemsworth, as the forthright manly man, has a good screen presence (even with his armour on) and has a fantastic voice.
But Hiddleston’s Loki, all malevolence and sibling rivalry, is by far the brightest presence on the screen. The special effects in Thor 2 are like something The Hulk might dream up – smash, bang, crash, cars falling, hammers hammering – there is enough action to keep viewers’ mouths slightly open for an hour and 52 minutes. I personally loved how Thor’s hammer frantically finds its way back to him even if they’re in different realities. Another good hammer point/fish-out-of-water joke: Thor enters a London flat and seeing a coat rack, hangs his hammer on a peg. Audiences might find themselves drifting off into the aether as well at times during some of the battle scenes (I spent ten minutes debating cheese versus regular popcorn during a key sequence), but it’s an enjoyable watch all the same – just the sight of a 62-year-old Stellan SkarsgĂ„rd running naked around Stonehenge as a deranged scientist is worth the ticket price.

Krrish 3
It’s Diwali and the biggest film of the year – Rakesh Roshan’s Krrish 3 is all set to hit screens in less than a week. Expectations are sky high, because the father-son duo of Hrithik and Rakesh Roshan have never failed. More than 7 years later, the duo return with their most desired film to date.
Here is a brief synopsis of this movie. After beating the wicked Dr. Siddhant Arya, and bringing his father Rohit back from the dead, Krrish continued battling against the bad and saving innocent lives. Krishna is living a happily married life with Priya, while Rohit is using his scientific cleverness to benefit society. Krrish is everyone’s favorite superhero.
Unknown to them, a evil force is growing in another part of the world. Kaal, an evil genius, is greedily misusing his powers to spread fear, death and destruction. And he is being aided by an army of very hazardous beings, which he has created himself. Not long after Kaal’s plans are put into action, both Rohit and Krrish find themselves faced with a crisis of epic proportions, which only they can resolve, together. but when they finally cross paths with Kaal and his army, neither of them is ready for what lies ahead. Kaal not only brings the world to the edge of disaster, he also puts the strength and love of Krishna and his family to the test. Krrish has to somehow find the power within to face an unbeatable foe. The greatest battle between darkness and light begins….
In Krrish 3 Hrithik Roshan takes on evil mutants and saves the world from destruction in his superhero avatar. Here's a lowdown on the new-age villains.
Chameleon Kaya ( Kangana Ranaut) is also known as Chameleon. And, just like the reptile that can change colours, Kaya has the power to transform into any shape she wishes to.
Rhinoman — a blend of a human and a rhinoceros — uses the deadly sharp horn on his head to kill his prey. His body is as heavy as that of a rhino and he uses his size to his advantage when fighting with the enemy.
Antman, who is half-human and half-ant, possesses the power to crush any object with his bare hands. His glowing red eyes signify the animal within. They say ants can carry weights 100 times more than their body weight and Antman bears testimony to this.
The Frogman uses his tongue to kill the enemy. He is a derivative of a human and a frog and his tongue is his sharpest weapon. He is mischievous and that is indicated by his envious green eyes.
Scorpion Woman Part-human, part-scorpion, she has claws as hands and a poisonous sting at the end of her long plait, with which she strikes. She shows her targets no mercy and can kill them in one stroke.
Krrish 3 made on a budget of 90 crore, with print and marketing likely to add up to 25 crore, taking the total cost of the film to around 115 crore. The satellite rights were pre-sold for Rs 40 crore, music rights fetched around 10 crore and Rakesh Roshan also sold theatrical rights to individual distributors before the film went on floors. For Krrish 3 to be a decent success and ensure that the distributors don’t end up in the red, the film has to collect around 120 crore at the domestic box office. Even in the worst case scenario, Krrish 3 should cross the 100 crore mark.It is great that our bollywood cinema has come to a stage where, in one percent of the budget of a Hollywood film, so much can be incorporated. If 'Krrish 3' is a success, it will be great for the sake of our artists. The scope will be so much for them that we will not just be able to match (international levels) but also go beyond it.
It’s going to be an exhilarating time for the industry and for all the box office fanatics here. In-depth reports, box office comparisons, records.. we will cover it all here.
For now, tell us what you think. Will Krrish 3 take the box office by storm? Will the film go on to be massive hit or sink without a trace? Its Hrithik’s time to shine, can he? That’s the big question.
